Atlantic Championship 2008
The past few months have seen many changes in open wheel racing. The Cooper TIres presents Atlantic Championship powered by Mazda begins its 38th season as the longest running development series in the United States. Graduates from the series include Keke Rosberg, Jacques Villeneuve, Michael Andretti, Danica Patrick, Sam Hornish and Simon Pagenaud. Going into 2008, the competition comes from throughout the world, including Brooks Associates drivers Markus Niemela and Andreas Wirth.
Brooks Associates Racing, voted Team Owner of the Year in 2005, has established his position as the longest running team in the series. From owner John Brooks early days as a driver, to team owner, the focus remains creating a competitive place in the field for his drivers.
“We've had an interesting history in our years in Atlantic. I've really enjoyed working with the wide variety of drivers we've had from the U.S., Europe and even China. Winning our first race in 2005 with Andreas and again in 2007 with Kevin were truly highlights. But each of our drivers has had their own unique story! I'm probably the only team to run five drivers in one year! I’m really proud to see some of our alumni go on to do some amazing things. Development of tomorrow’s champions, along with all the teams in our series, is why we’re here.” -- John C. Brooks, Team Owner.
